Hello everyone! I hope everybody had a good Independence Day. I took the kiddos camping. My sister was camping and invited us along so we packed up the tent and blankets and headed out to go camping. I think I'm getting a little old (ok, just out of shape!) to be sleeping on the cold hard ground! Actually, it wasn't cold at all. Just very hard!
After 2 nights of sleeping in a tent on the ground I was very glad to be back in my nice cozy bed! I did enjoy the sleeping outside, though. It was so nice to sit by the campfire in the evening and and just enjoy all the outdoors. It was NOT overwhelmingly hot so it was a very nice trip. We got to go swimming, go to a carnival, visit some flea market-type shops, and cook out. The kids loved it! I was so glad I went even though I had debated on not going. Now I want to go again! Next time I believe I'll purchase an air mattress! LOL
Recently a friend that I grew up with had a baby and came back into my life. She is 39 and just had her 4th child. A baby boy. He's so tiny! He was 2 months premature but he's doing well. Little fellar only weights 4 pounds! He's just so perfect, though. My friend has had a very difficult life. I'm hoping he will help bring some stability into her life and she'll take responsibility and stay away from the negative influences she's had in the past. She seems to be getting her life together and I am sooooo happy for her. She's a great woman who deserves more than she's ever been given.
When she got back in touch with me we had not seen each other in approx. 6 years or so. She was surprised at how my life has changed. We both had very difficult childhoods and have been through a lot of the same situations. Abuse in childhood, domestic violence, etc. When she went to my MySpace page she asked me if I had become Gothic! LOL
I told her that I had just given in and decided to embrace the "Witch" in me at last! That I no longer hid my Pagan beliefs but enjoyed them and flaunted them. That I had found my Goddess within and that I was now a daughter of Gaia. To my relief, she accepts me as I am and does not dispute my beliefs. I think she actually received some hope from seeing me and how much I've changed since embracing my Path choice. When she first came over she had me read her cards. She was definitely impressed with my ability and has begun to tell everyone how scary accurate I am! She's even bringing friends over for me to read theirs.
I don't want to go into too much of her personal life but I will admit that she's had some addictions and she is recovering from those. I am hoping to give her hope and positive energy that she may succeed in staying away from those influences. I believe she is on the right path and I am sure she will succeed this time. Please keep her in your thoughts for me, and her preemie son. It's much appreciated. After seeing her again I spent a lot of time thinking about how much my life really has changed. She noticed the calmness and peace within me now that I never had previously. Although being a single parent is difficult (to say the least) I am happy with it, myself, and my life. I am truly blessed to have my children, the wonderful home I live in, the family and friends that love and support me, and the Gods and Goddesses that are with me in every way.
I just want to say thank you again to all of my wonderful friends. Those of you that I know in person whether I've known you for years or only a short time, and also all of my new friends that I've met through Xanga. No matter how difficult things get for you try to always think of at least 3 things that you are blessed to have. I try to spend more time now concentrating on my blessings than on the negative factors of my life. I've found that no matter how bad things get, the blessings completely outweigh the negative!
What a wonderful feeling. I did take some pictures camping but not very many. I'll try to post some soon. For the first time in over 5 years I wore a 2 piece bathing suit! I felt so sexy, confident, and feminine! My last doctor appointment put my weight at 145 pounds. I was so happy! My weight has not been so low for a long time. I'm very happy with my figure at the moment. I don't care to lose anymore weight. I'm happy where I am. Being 5'8" makes me pretty tall for that weight. I actually had to go buy some summer clothes because I didn't have one pair of shorts that wouldn't fall down when I put them on! Hehehehe
Ok, ok, ok, I'll stop bragging now! I'm off to visit you. Brightest Blessings to all.

Quiz and joke....
What Greek Goddess are you?
You are Artemis!
You are like Aretmis, goddess of the moon, hunting and archery. You love any and all things wild and unclaimed, and that is how you are yourself. You are independent, you march to the beat of your own drum, and you allow no one to dictate how you will live but yourself. You like your freedom. This is why animals and nature often intrigue you.How do you compare?
Take this test! | Tests from TestrifficFunny joke with a moral:

Little Johnny watched his Daddy's car pass by the school playground and go into the woods. Curious, Johnny followed the car and saw Daddy and Aunt Jane in a passionate embrace. Little Johnny found this so exciting that he could not contain himself, he ran home and started to tell his mother.
"Mommy I was at the playground and I saw Daddy's car go into the woods with Aunt Jane. I went back to look and he was giving Aunt Jane a big kiss, then he helped her take off her shirt. Then Aunt Jane helped Daddy take his pants off, then Aunt Jane . . . ."
At this point Mommy cut him off and said, "Johnny this is such an interesting story suppose you save the rest of it for supper time.I want to see the look on Daddy's face when you tell it tonight".
At the dinner table Mommy asked little Johnny to tell his story. Johnny started his story, "I was at the playground and I saw Daddy's car go into the woods with Aunt Jane. I went back to look and he was giving Aunt Jane a big kiss, then he helped her take off her shirt. Then Aunt Jane helped Daddy take his pants off, then Aunt Jane and Daddy started doing the same thing that Mommy and Uncle Bill used to do when Daddy was in the Army".
Moral: Sometimes you need to listen to the whole story before you interrupt!!!!!

My Memorial Altar:
I finally have my memorial altar put up. It looks so nice. I took a couple of pictures of it. I hope you can see it.
Now I need to get some more pictures of my loved ones that have already moved on. I only have 3 photos right now. The first picture is clearer but the second picture shows how it looks when only the soft lamp is lit in my room.
When I first got it set up I felt this calming peace come over me. I lit a candle to honor those that I have lost and said a blessing. I could almost feel their presence with me and felt the warmth of how they were touched by my effort. It was really nice.

Wife swap...
ABC's "Wife Swap" television show:
Ok, I don't know if anyone here watches this show or not but I do enjoy watching it. It's very interesting to see how two completely different families can try to understand different points of views and family styles. Tonight's episode was the Silver/Pitney families. Here's a breakdown from ABC.com:

Biography
Silver Family
When Florida native and self-professed psychic medium Sheree Silver (48) married husband Sam (42), they opened a "spiritual center" together where she sells mystical trinkets and performs psychic readings. Sam is so in awe of his wife that he waits on her hand and foot -- cooking, cleaning and even blow-drying her hair.
Sheree is raising her sons, Andrew (13) and Justin (10), to be in touch with their feminine sides as well; the boys dance and play musical instruments, and they don't play sports. Sheree feels that her sons are too sensitive for public school and opts to home school them instead. As a result, the boys' only interaction with other kids their age is only at tap and ballet lessons, where they're also the only boys in the class.
Biography
Pitney Family
Kentucky is the rambunctious residence of the Pitney family, where mom Ashley (29) has her hands full with her out of control sons, Brandon (8) and Tyler (5), and gambling-addict husband, Alan (33).
Ashley doesn't believe in disciplining the kids and is happy to let them roughhouse all day long, eat piles of junk food and even sleep with her and Alan in their bed at night. She is equally indulgent with husband Alan, letting him spend all his free time gambling the family's money away instead of helping her control the boys.My opinion of this episode:
Basically I felt the whole episode boiled down to Ashley Pitney being completely jealous of how Sheree Silver's family treated her. These episodes where they take a Pagan or Wiccan family against a typical Christian or good ol' boy mentality family always gets to me.
I don't think they would bother me so badly if the typical family came into it with an open mind and not so judgmental. The Pitney family is a typical American family. What bothered me the most is how Ashley's husband actually came around and realized how much she does for them and began to help out more. He quit the online gambling and started to help his wife out and pamper her more. Ashley didn't even have the decency to thank Sheree for this remarkable turn around in her husband's behavior! She went into the meeting still criticizing everything about the Silvers. Not one nice word to say. Calling them names, being hostile, judgmental, rude, and completely unreasonable. I especially hated how Ashley kept calling Sheree's boys "sissies" and telling Sam that he needed to stand up for himself and be a man. I agreed with Sheree's son when he said if that her definition of a man is what he should be then he'd rather grow up being a sissy man! Sheree's definitely teaching her boys respect and the qualities that TRULY define being a man. Not just macho bullshit!
I'm not saying that all men should wait on their women hand and foot but there's a difference between a man being a positive supportive force in his wife's life and someone that's just a pushover. Sam wasn't being forced to do the things for Sheree that he was doing. She wasn't degrading him or guilting him into treating her nicely. He was just being a true man by loving her enough to be a caring, loving, doting husband.
I try not to say mean things about people but in my opinion saying Ashley Pitney is a "bitch" would be a compliment!!
She's much worse than that. Well, I'm off to watch the new series "Ex-Wives Club" and then "Supernanny". I may update later!

UPDATE:
I was so busy ranting about the show that I forgot to fill you in on my weekend! I rearranged my bedroom and finally got my Memorial Altar set up. I had been planning for quite a while to put up an altar specifically to honor my friends and loved ones that have passed on. I finally got it set up today. I need to get more pictures put in frames to put on there but for the most part it looks great! I took some pics and I'll post them along with more info tomorrow!
